Annual General Meeting, 2009
According to constitution, at least one general meeting is to be held every year. The annual general meeting is usually held in December. This year's general meeting is of importance since it is also an election year.

Convention 2009
This year's annual convention was held at the Honor's Haven Resort and Spa, Ellenville, NY during August 7-9, 2009. Recently renovated and comfortable, Honor's Haven is located in Ellenville which lies in the scenic Rondout Valley, between the eastern base of the Catskill Mountains, and the western base of the Shawangunk Ridge. The resort is approximately ninety miles northwest of New York City, and easily accessible from NY 52 and US 209 via NY 87 or RT 17.
In addition to the 10 contact hours of continuing education that was arranged for this years convention, a number of presentations related to the practice of pharmacy and pharmaceutical industry was presented.

Annual Dinner: 2009
The BAPA Executive Committee hosted an evening of fine dining and entertainment. The Annual Dinner of 2009 was held at The World Fair Marina Restaurant, Flushing, Queens on February 14, 2009.

Annual Convention 2008

The theme of this year's convention was Pharmacy Profession in the USA and Bangladesh. Pharmacy education started in Bangladesh in the 60's. Unfortunately, Pharmacist profession in Bangladesh is yet to be defined. We all know how medicines are dispensed in Bangladesh and needless to repeat what we all know. Although there is no statistics about the impact of uncontrolled dispensing on public health, we are sure this gap in Bangladesh healthcare system is causing wide varieties of healthcare problems. On the other hand, despite significant growth of pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in Bangladesh, supply of safe, effective and quality medicines is not fully defined as required.
There are 180 plus pharmaceutical manufacturers that are actively producing varieties of medicines in Bangladesh. It is a common public opinion that quality of medicines from many of these companies is not adequate. We thought BAPA should initiate a process to study these situations along with experts in these areas in the US and Bangladesh, Pharmacy Graduates Association, Bangladesh Pharmaceutical Society, and the Government agencies; develop strategies to address any gap there may be, and propose solutions to the Government of Bangladesh and other stakeholders. Proposed solutions need to be feasible for Bangladesh. So, the Executive Committee of BAPA invited pharmaceutical industry experts, academia, and policy makers from the US and Bangladesh to the Convention to discuss and develop strategies to address these issues.
Annual Dinner 2008
An evening of fine dining and cultural show marked the Annual Dinner held at The Sterling, Bethpage, on February 23, 2008.
Murad Husain, a New Jersey Pharmacist and pharmaceutical industry executive, was sworn-in as President of the Bangladeshi American Pharmacists Association (BAPA) during the event.
"I am looking forward to working with all members during the next two years. I believe, we need to transform BAPA to a professional organization that equally attracts Bangladeshi Pharmacy graduates as well as the US Pharmacy graduates of Bangladeshi descendents" Mr. Husain said in his inaugural speech held during the Annual Dinner on February 23, 2008 at The Sterling, Bethpage, New York.
Mr Awal Siddiqui, who served as the President during the past two year term, congratulated the recently elected leaders of BAPA. "I will be happy to work with the new committee during their term if needed" said Mr. Siddiqui.
Murad Husain was joined by Sharif Ahmed (Vice President), Shah Rashid (General Secretary), and Abdus Salam (Treasurer). In addition, Abul Azad, Mohammad Daud Bhuiyan, Mohammed Nurul Haque, Mohammad Akhter Hossain and Abdur Rashid were sworn-in to the two-year term as the Members of the Executive Committee. These leaders assumed their new roles on February 23, 2008.
